I'd love to get to know you better!  Feel free to drop me a note anytime!

I was so honored when Missy contacted me about scheduling her family’s annual fall session with me!  She spoke so kindly of my work through our email conversations and I was immediately overwhelmed with joy from her support.  She offered to have the session at their house which was surrounded by fields and vibrant fall colored trees lining the property.  Y’all know I love a good open field, so this was the perfect location for the crisp air day!!

I love capturing families in different seasons of life.  This season in particular for The Packetts means chasing after their full of life three year old son!  Avery was so well behaved during the session.  He is definitely energetic and was so excited to be playing out in the field that day!  I have learned in family sessions that it is best to let children act their age… When we try to force them into posing and sitting still, it normally results in a breakdown and a battle of the wills between parents and children.

With this in mind, I bring my patience to these sessions and I let them be just what they are… children.  Does that mean that I get the best shots of them smiling, looking directly at the camera??  Not every time.  However, it does mean that I am documenting the family’s season of life accurately.  Life is real and sometimes it’s wonderful and sometimes it’s messy and sometimes it means chasing around a playful three year old in a field and bribing him with gummies.  That is real life.  I would rather capture real life images all day that represent this time in my clients lives, than to offer images that tell any other story than the one they are currently living.  The Packett’s session is the perfect example of this… We did get a few shots of their son looking and smiling at me.  But we also got a lot of real life shots of the family playing, laughing, and whole heartedly loving one another.  Those images feel so real to core and I am blessed to be able to capture them.

After family photos, we also had a mini headshots session for Missy!!  She is a Rodan + Fields consultant and was interested in having headshots taken to be used throughout her business adventures!!  She also gave me a mini facial gift bag after the session ended and I loved it!!  You can find her R+F information here.

Here are a few of my favorites from their session!
