I have been SO excited about sharing this downtown Fredericksburg couples session on the blog since the day of this session!! So many sneak peeks have already been shared on social media but the entire gallery was seriously a favorite, so I am happy to finally be sharing it!!!
Alfred reached out to me in February. He said that he was gifting his girlfriend a couples session as a Valentine’s gift and that they would love to book with me!! They were looking for more of an urban setting for their session so we decided on downtown Fredericksburg!! I adore the charm that part of town offers around every corner and was more than excited about shooting a session there!
I had been speaking with Alfred for a while discussing final details, but we had not yet discussed his girlfriend’s name! Well, a few days before their April session, a fellow photographer friend on Instagram commented that she and her boyfriend “had their couples session with me that Friday and they were so excited!” Little did I know, Kirby and I had been following each other for a while on Instagram just as friends in this industry supporting each others work and suddenly I realized that I would be meeting this sweet girl in person for the first time!! Not only that, but I was shocked because I had no idea in myconversations with Alfred that Kirby and I knew each other!!!
I was obviously excited as could be to be working with them and honored that they chose me for their session!! From my experience, being a photographer and choosing your photographer can be such a difficult decision, so I was thrilled and so honored to be working with them!
We met that afternoon at Hyperion. They finished their cookie and drinks as we chatted and got to know each other initially. After that we were on our way into the beautiful weather to begin shooting! As I said before, Downtown Fredericksburg has so much charm so we had plenty of spots around every turn to shoot!
These two also nailed their outfits in a way that allowed their personalities to shine!!! They started with a sweet outfit, a bit more casual which looked fantastic with our first few locations. The next outfit was a bit more edgy consisting of black skinny jeans, stripes, heals, and a deep lipstick which paired perfectly with the concrete surroundings and late afternoon sunset glow!
Every pose, every image- oh my goodness- they killed it! Some people are just so natural in front of the camera. Some people are just so natural in the way they interact with each other that capturing their love story is as easy as watching their love unfold. Well, Kirby and Alfred are a bit of both!!!
I felt so comfortable throughout our time together that I began trying new poses and angles that I have never shot before. This was risky of course, because what if I failed and what if it looked terrible in camera… But what if I was right, and what if it looked amazing in camera?? So I took a few risks in trying something new in a few new locations and I am happy that I did because some of my favorite images from this gallery are from those moments!!!!
Kirby and Alfred hold such a special place in my heart. Their kind, joyful, and genuine souls made the afternoon in Fredericksburg one of my favorites to date! I can not wait to see what the future has in store for them as they graduate college and begin the next chapter for their lives!
Thank you so much to Kirby + Alfred for choosing me for this sweet couples session. I could not have been more honored, more joyful to work with yall, or more in love with yalls gallery!!! Sending hugs to my new friends + sharing my favorites from their session below!!
