Behind The Hustle | How I Keep My To-Do’s Organized

Hoary! Its fri-yay, yall!!  Whoop whoop!!  Do you ever just have those days (or weeks) where nothing quite goes as planned?? You have every intention of hustling in your business and you succeed at that for one day, but then spend the next three days catching up on other life stuff??  Yeah, you know what Im talking about!  Well, Im having one of those weeks so this post is going to be short and sweet 🙂

I wanted to share a quick business tip with yall on how I keep all of my to do lists straight!!  You’ve got lots going on in your life between the to dos and the ideas and just all of the things!!

I could never keep it all straight.  I tried writing lists in a notebook and I tried post it notes and then I tried notes and lists on my phone.  Needless to say I just ended up with notes here and there and everywhere and there was no consistency to finding them or reminding me what needed to be done!

So- how did I solve this??  Its actually so simple that I feel silly for not thinking of it sooner.

“Stickies”

…On my mac computer.  Sounds simple enough right?!

I use the “stickies” on my computer and keep them active on my desktop at all times!  That way, I can see what needs to be done the moment that I open my computer to work!

(If you don’t have a mac and don’t know what Im referring to, “stickies” is an app that came on my mac laptop that is pretty much a digital sticky note)

My current lists include the following…

Blog Schedule

I have my sessions organized in the order that they occurred so that I know which session needs to be blogged next.  Once I blog it, I erase it from the list!

Blog Ideas

To keep track of all those ideas that pop in my head from time to time and have them all in once place.  When I blog an idea on the list, I just erase it!

To Do Priorities

This is a short list of the absolute priority tasks that I need to complete for the day (or week)

To Do Eventually

A list of things that I would like to accomplish soon, but only once my priority tasks are complete for that time.

Spokesmodels

A list dedicated to my spokesmodels full of event info, etc!  If you don’t have a spokesmodel team, you could use this “sticky” for whatever big project you’re working on to keep all the details in once place!

. . . . .

Those four lists being right on my desktop have literally been a lifesaver!!  Because they stay on my desktop, its the first thing that I see when I begin working and it has kept me on track better than ever pen and paper listener did.

If you’re a visual person and a majority of your work day is spent on the computer, I would really recommend trying this out for a while as a way to keep your lists and all of your ideas in one organized place!

Trello is a good option as well!  I dont use it for my to do lists, but I do use that for my clients/sessions but I’ll share those details next week!!

Have an awesome weekend friends!!!

Oh, and heres another sneak peek of the amazing cake that I picked up this week from Amanda or Sorby Sweets!!
