I shared a sneak peek of this wedding already on the blog a few weeks ago, but I wanted to share a full post about their backyard wedding in Reedville, Virginia.
This was no ordinary backyard wedding, but probably one of the prettiest backyard weddings I have shot! Funny enough, it wasn’t necessarily planned for this from the start.
Sarah and Kevin had been planning a church wedding in May with a reception at the Tides Inn through their entire engagement. When covid restrictions postponed their wedding to August, they ended up without a wedding reception and started to plan their wedding from scratch just months before the big day.
Sarah’s parents live in a gorgeous home in Reedville on the water with the most beautiful views. Luckily with the help of their family and other wedding vendors, they were able to pull together the most lovely wedding right there at Sarah’s parent’s home.
As their big day drew near, Virginia weather was threatened with leftover rain and wind from a hurricane that had just hit another part of the US. The forecast was calling for 25 mph winds and heavy rain all day. I could not even believe when the day arrived and there was sunshine and warmth. We dodged one rain shower that lasted all of about 5 minutes and lucked out the rest of the day. I was SO thankful!!
I remember seeing Sarah in her gown for the first time for her bridal portraits and I could not wait for her to experience that bridal feeling in real time on her wedding day. She looked amazing and was honestly so joyful and calm all before the ceremony. A first look with her dad had everyone in tears and that was such contrast to the excitement that was buzzing through her sisters and best friends that made up her bridal party.
Kevin was also cool and calm as his best friends and family joined by his side getting ready that day. Groomsmen portraits were a great time and there were so many laughs and jokes!
Their waterfront ceremony soon began and that led way to the most beautiful celebration that continued through the night with dancing and tears and laughs and toasts that brought everyone to laughs and tears again! Sarah and Kevin ended their night with late night surprise pizzas for their guests and a sparkler exit. I can 100% say that it was a perfect day and I loved being a part of it!
Sarah and Kevin – thank you again for having me be a part of your wedding day and engagement! You two are so special and it was truly an honor to work with two sweet friends. Congratulations again and enjoy getting used to calling each other “husband and wife” 🙂
Thanks to the team that helped make this day so amazing!
