Oh hi!

I'd love to get to know you better!  Feel free to drop me a note anytime!

Oh goodness, I am just so pumped about the amount of goodness on the blog this week!!  Today especially because this elopement shoot is one for the books and legitimately a favorite!

I graduated with Phillip and recently connected with him again on social media.  His girlfriend and I also connected!  I had never actually met her but I just adored seeing all of her posts with their three dogs and, lets be honest, if there is one thing that makes me smile from ear to ear its a dog haha!

I was excited when i received a message from her through my website that she was interested in booking a session.  I responded back just as joyfully as ever and was looking forward to a couples session with them!

We began chatting and then she let me in on a huge secret!!  She and Phillip were actually eloping!!!  AH!!  What is it about elopements that gets me all sorts of rung up and excited?! haha.

The plans progressed over the next few weeks and the couple ended up being married on a Thursday on the beach in Yorktown!  The next day we met at Fort Monroe for their elopement session!!  Tollie said that Fort Monroe was a place that they came together often, so of course I loved the fact that this location had meaning behind it and was close to the couples heart!

The day started off bright and sunny.  I hoped in my car and began the drive to meet them.  As I progressed down the road, the sky got darker and then it happened- a massive thunderstorm!!!

Lightening, tons of rain, crazy amounts of wind, hail- all of it!!

Thankfully, Tollie had the perfect spot picked out for us to begin the session and it offered coverage during the rain.  We stopped at one point as we waited for the storm to pass because the rain was literally coming down side ways!!!  After that, the weather subsided and we were able to take advantage of all that Fort Monroe had to offer and we even caught some awesome sunset glow that evening!

So many of these images are my favorites for different reasons.  The beginning of the session with the industrial feel of the concrete surroundings, the tall trees with low limbs that the couple danced under as Phillip spun her around, the beach, the sunset, the moment that Tollie wasn’t afraid to get her dress wet and the couple stood in the water as the waves rushed in around them, the quietness of those final images we took as Phillip pulled her in tight and Tollie closed her eyes as he nuzzled into her.  Oh, and did I mention that the brides dress was white and BLUSH?!  And that I pretty much got to take bride and groom portraits (my absolute favorite) for two hours straight?!  It was all so perfect!!

I just adored working with these two and being a part of such a special time in their lives!  Tollie was the type of person that I felt like I had known my entire life even if that was the first time that I met her in person and of course I was comfortable around Phillip having known him for so long before that!

Tollie’s smile was radiant and in every moment Phillip was ready to wrap his arms around her and pull her in close.  AH!!  I am just SO happy for them!!  Congratulations you two!!  Now- take a look below at my absolute (probably way too many) favorite images from our time together!!!
