I’m overjoyed and yet half way sad to be writing this post because it means that Amanda and Zach’s sage and navy inspired Mt Zion wedding in Lottsburg, Virginia has come and gone!
I just adore this sweet couple. I first photographed them years ago when they were dating and then was so incredibly happy when they asked me to photograph their wedding. They have become such sweet friends over the years and I was honored to be there for the biggest day of their life!!
When I first arrived at Mt Zion that day, the sun was shining through the leaves of the tall trees that have stood surrounding the home for centuries. The pale blue two story front porches welcomed you with southern charm as you ascended the stairs to the front door.
Amanda was upstairs with her bridesmaids finishing hair and make up while Zach and his groomsmen were downstairs watching football and eating pizzas- both of which seemed like the perfect way to prep for the fun of the day ahead! Amanda and Zach both seemed completely calm and ready for everything that was to come!
Soon it was time to begin prepping for the first look. Zach’s groomsmen helped straighten his tie and hook his suspenders on his navy blue suit. Amanda’s bridesmaids slid into their one shoulder sage green dresses before helping Amanda step into her Stella York gown.
I’ve said it every time that I’ve seen Amanda in her dress and I’ll say it again- but she just looked SO amazing as if that gown was designed just for her.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the place when Amanda’s grandma saw her for the first time that day. Amanda walked down the stairs and her grandma cried as she pulled her in tight for a lingering hug.
Amanda soon walked outside, tapping Zach on the shoulder and his face was pure joy when he saw her as a bride for the first time that day. He pulled her in tight and they savored the moment together in each others arms.
We laughed our way through bride and groom portraits, cried again as Amanda’s dad saw her for the first time, and laughed some more as the bridal party joined us for portraits.
The ceremony soon began and Amanda’s dad took her for a drive alone towards the aisle. He parked the truck, walked to the passenger side, lifted Amanda out of the truck, and walked her down the aisle to give her away to Zach.
Amanda and Zach were both smiling the entire time they vowed forever to each other and their joy walking back down the aisle as husband and wife was contagious to everyone there.
The rest of the night was a beautiful, fun filled celebration between their closest family and friends. A full moon was shining as their guests packed the dance floor until the very end.
It was just the sweetest day for two of the sweetest people and a preview of my favorite images from their wedding are all below!!
Amanda and Zach – I am just so grateful for your friendship, for your kindness, for your trust in me, and for choosing me to stand along side you for such a special day. I am so honored to have been there and so happy to see what the future has in store for you two. Enjoy reliving the sweetest day through these images. Hugs to you both! – Abby
