An Edgehill Farm Wedding in June | King William, Virginia

Haley and Caleb were married at Edgehill Farm on a warm June day with Cinderella blue details and it was everything as perfect as I could have hoped for the two of them! These two feel like such great friends to me. It’s hard to believe that I had never actually met them in person until about a month ago! We had been chatting through email for months, I finally got to hug them in person at their Richmond engagement session in May (those images I’ll be sharing soon), and somehow by the time their wedding day arrived they both felt like friends I had known my entire life!
They were the type of couple that I clicked with immediately and they had the most faith in me that I could ever ask for. They trusted whatever shot I was creating (climbing and running and snuggling in under her veil). They knew I loved good light for the best portraits and were always happy to go along with that. They even trusted my recommendation when I suggested that we add additional time to their wedding package to fit everything and get the photos they were hoping for! Basically- they were dream clients and I could not be more grateful that they placed such sweet faith into me. Dream clients that worked with some of my favorite wedding vendors, but I’ll share more of that at the end!
Now let me tell you a little about their wedding day! The sun was shining as I drew the warm June heat into may lungs approaching Edgehill Farm. The 1789 home stood tall at the end of a tree lined driveway surrounded by fields as far as the eye could see. I walked up the brick pathway and into the home to find hair and make up in full swing. I found Haley, gave her a big hug, and thought to myself “Look how relaxed she is”! If there was a nervous bone in her body, I swear I couldn’t tell!!
After exploring the property and photographing bridal details, I soon met with Caleb and his groomsmen. With quick party introductions and final suit prep, I noticed the same about Caleb- that he, too, didn’t show any signs of nervousness. It was as if they had been growing to this moment their entire lives and knew that this was it!
I headed back to help Haley into her gown. Her mother zipper her up while her sister helped her into her shoes and jewelry. The bridesmaids soon gathered in together to see their sweet friend as a bride for the first time. Everyone was blown away by how amazing she looked and I think the emotions really began to set in! As if that wasn’t enough to get the tears going, Haley also did a first look with her grandmother and her father. I knew it all felt real the moment he wrapped his arms around her and admired how beautiful she was.
A thunderstorm rolled in, as most can predict for southern summer days, but the storm moved fast and the sun appeared again. The ceremony soon began and Haley fought back tears as she approached Caleb. The moment she was at the alter and he looked straight into her eyes is one of the moments I loved most from this wedding. I swear it was as if no one else was there in that moment but him and her.
When they were pronounced husband and wife, Caleb dipped Haley back for their first kiss as a married couple. I have to applaud Caleb on how smooth and elegant that dip was, haha!
After family and bridal party portraits, I got to spend some time with Haley and Caleb alone and I vividly remembered just how effortless life is when they are together. The air seems lighter, the smiles come easier, there is a peace like no other when they are wrapped into each others arms. The laughter that rang from both of them was the sweetest sound. There was so much joy and it was absolutely beautiful.
First dances and toasts that brought the crowd to laughter and tears made way to sunset portraits and then it was time for the celebration to really kick up a notch! The dance floor was packed all night long and sparklers soon sent the happy couple on their way into their newest season of life as husband and wife. It was the perfect day for the sweetest couple! Now enjoy a few (aka – A LOT) of my favorites from this sweet day!
Haley and Caleb, you know I just adore you two and am so happy for your marriage! I am so grateful for your kindness, your trust in me, and your friendship! The future is going to be so good to you guys and I can’t wait to see whats in store!!
A huge thanks to all of the amazing vendors that made this day as sweet as it was!
