A Paynefield Farm Wedding in May | Tappahannock, Virginia

Kaitlyn and Michael are married and what a beautiful Paynefield Farms wedding it was!!! I LOVE working with all of my couples in locations that are special to them and it’s extra special when those locations are close to my hometown! Speaking of hometown, I honestly don’t know HOW I managed to go my whole life not actually knowing these two already!! They live about 15 minutes away from me and until Kaitlyn inquired with me for their wedding, I didn’t actually know them at all!
That’s all changed now though because after ten months on my calendar, one engagement session (which I’ll be sharing images from soon), one bridal portrait session (also sharing soon), countless emails, and developing a relationship through social media as well (you can follow Kaitlyn’s fitness page HERE)- I can honestly say that Kaitlyn feels like a sweet friend and the same goes for Michael! With that being said, you know I was so grateful to be a part of their wedding day and I cant wait to tell you all about it!!!
When I arrived on their wedding day, I was welcomed with hugs and smiles and I just knew it was going to be a great day for these two! Hair and make up were in full swing when I arrived while the guys finished helping prepare the ceremony site. I began shooting details which included a few of my favorites like heirlooms from Kaitlyn’s grandmother (so sweet), blush bridesmaids dresses (y’all know I’m a sucker for blush), and Kaitlyn’s veil which was handmade!!
After soon getting Kaitlyn into her dress, she slid into her boots and got ready for the first look!! It was just the best, y’all. Michael immediately turned around and hurried over to her like he couldn’t wait another second to get his arms around his bride! They laughed and kissed and held on to each other for a moment before we jumped into portraits. Their bridal party later joined us and so did their black lab, Jake! He was such a good boy and actually ended up in more portraits that I was expecting because he was so content hanging out with us in his fancy collar made of fresh greenery! Oh, and just wait until you see the “Jake” socks that the groom and groomsmen are wearing! ha!
The ceremony later took place in front of the barn doors and these two walked down the aisle as husband and wife with the most JOY I could ever hope for for them! During the reception we snuck out for even more portraits and shot literally until dark taking advantage of every view that Paynefield has to offer throughout their gorgeous venue.
The moon was full that night and the air was warm. After portraits we were welcomed into toasts and cake followed by dancing that continued until the sparkler exit. It was a ton of fun because, since we were shooting so close to home and the Northern Neck is so closely knit, I knew about 75% of the guests already and the 25% that I didn’t already know made me feel so welcomed into their celebration! It was just such a fun evening!!!
Kaitlyn and Michael- I can’t thank y’all enough for welcoming me into this season of your life and I can’t believe you are now (finally!) husband and wife!!!! I am SO happy for y’all and I adore you both!!! Have the best time on your honeymoon and enjoy a few to my favorite images from your wedding day! Hugs!
Thank you SO much to the amazing vendors that helped make this day perfection!!!
