I'd love to get to know you better!  Feel free to drop me a note anytime!

It’s a chilly day here in the Northern Neck of Virginia, but I’m warming up just thinking about this perfect summer wedding at St Margaret’s on the Rappahannock River and so excited to share these images with you today.  The first time I met Mallory and Rich was at their engagement session, but they quickly felt like friends as we talked that afternoon.  A few months passed and suddenly I was on the phone with Mallory just days before their wedding chatting about final details.  The touch of excitement yet paired with a gentle ease of contentment in her voice as she spoke about the upcoming day was truly lovely.

Even faster than before, suddenly it was Saturday and the sun was shining down on the sidewalk ahead as we headed to start photographing their special day.  Mallory began getting ready at a salon just down the street and I was welcomed into her family friend’s home to begin photographing bridal details.  Soon after I began, one by one the bridesmaids waltzed their way up the stairs and the entire floor was filled with buzzing excitement.  Mallory was the last to ascend the staircase and I could see the anticipation in her eyes as she began getting ready for the moment that she would get to see her groom in just a few short minutes.

Behind closed doors, Mallory was helped into her dress by her mother. We gathered her bridesmaids with closed eyes as she got into place for the big reveal.  The look on everyone face when they opened their eyes to see her completed bridal look was one of my favorite parts of the day!

Rich had spent the morning at the Essex Inn where he and his groomsmen shared a morning of kicking back laughing together.  It was soon time for his first look with Mallory.  He stood tall facing the water.  I led Mallory down the stairs to go see him for the first time that day.   She walked outside and through the grass to greet him.  When he turned around to see her, the first thing he could do was pull her in tight with his arms wrapped around her.

After a few romantic portraits of the two of them alone, we welcomed their closest friends and family out for bridal party pictures.  This was the largest bridal party I had worked with at the time and it was definitely one to remember!!  Everyone’s personality added a little extra joy to the person beside them in a special kind of way and it was just a great way to kick off the celebration of Mallory and Rich’s marriage.

I walked down the road to St Margaret’s where their ceremony site which was set up next to a large tent for their reception.  The entire celebration would be held overlooking the Rappahannock River.  The two soon said “I Do” with all of their sweetest guests gathered around in the shade under a two tall trees.  Friends spoke special words of romance and wisdom while Rich’s brother performed the ceremony and Mallory placed Rich’s grandfather’s wedding ring onto his hand.  It was a special moment as that very ring had already withstood so many years of marriage, love, and compassion.  Their kiss sealed the deal and there wasn’t a smile missing from anyones face as joy filled the air and the new mr and mrs walked down the aisle hand in hand.

The big celebration began soon after with cocktails and once the band began to play, the dance floor was filled the rest of the night!!  Glow sticks added an extra touch to the party as the night went on and Mallory and Rich soon exited their wedding with cheers and glow sticks held high.  It was such a fairy tail kind of night!!

Mallory and Rich- the beginning of your marriage and your wedding day was beautiful.  I am so honored that you chose me to capture it all.  I am also so happy for you two and of course wish you the very best as you walk through life as husband and wife!
